• Used as transparent barriers for sending and receiving light between two phases under varying conditions in temperature, pressure, chemical composition, cleanliness, and phase.
• Windows made of zinc selenium (ZnSe, or zinc selenide), the most commonly used optical material that allows transmission of infrared light.
• In contrast to other optical materials for infrared light such as Ge (germanium), or Si (silicon), ZnSe windows allow transmission of some visible light, enabling easier adjustment (alignment) of the optical axis of infrared laser systems and enabling use of more convenient and cheaper He-Ne lasers.
• Surface reflection losses during transmission through a window depend on the refractive index of the window material.
• Non-coated and AR coated products for CO2 lasers are available.
• Nonhygroscopic and extremely stable under normal conditions, in contrast to other salt-based infrared materials.

注意：

• ZnSe reacts readily with acidic substances, generating toxic selenium oxide gas. Never clean with acidic washing solutions.
• Be sure to wear laser safety goggles when checking optical path and adjusting optical axis.
